Malta-based Alkagesta has become a corporate member of the International Bunker Industry Association, according to reports published in November by Manifold Times and Ship & Bunker. Separate coverage in January reported sustained growth in the company's Singapore bunkering operations.

IBIA is the industry body through which bunker suppliers, buyers and surveyors engage on fuel quality, contractual standards and regulatory change. Membership is a signal of intent to operate inside those norms rather than a licence of any kind.

The commercial logic is straightforward. Bunkering is a trust business: buyers are exposed to quantity and quality disputes long after a stem is delivered, so recognised industry participation and consistent regional service tend to precede repeat volume.

Global Freight has not independently verified volume figures or operational claims. Details remain as reported by the publications listed below.
