A coalition of four shipowners based in Europe and Canada has placed an order for four product tankers at China Merchants. The contract brings the total number of vessels in Furetank's Vinga series to 26.

Two of the 17,999 dwt newbuildings have been earmarked for FureBear, an equal joint venture between Sweden's Furetank and Canada's Algoma Central Corporation.

A third tanker will join the fleet of Swedish owner Älvtank, with the remaining unit linked to a Norwegian shipping firm under the multi-owner newbuilding agreement.
