UK Maritime Groups Form Coalition to Accelerate Alternative Fuel Adoption
The UK Chamber of Shipping and Cruise Lines International Association have launched a cross-industry group to support low-carbon maritime fuel policies and infrastructure.

The UK Chamber of Shipping and the Cruise Lines International Association have jointly launched the UK Alternative Maritime Fuels Coalition. The collaborative effort is designed to help expedite the commercial maritime sector's switch to lower carbon operations.
The alliance convenes shipowners, bunker suppliers, fuel producers, and maritime technology developers under a single platform. Members advocate for a fuel-neutral and technology-agnostic policy stance established on verifiable operating results and full lifecycle emissions measurements.
A primary focus of the new coalition is addressing key structural bottlenecks in the British maritime decarbonisation landscape. The group plans to concentrate on establishing supportive policy frameworks, securing alternative fuel volumes, and expanding the domestic infrastructure required to achieve net-zero goals.
