Alkagesta awarded the EcoVadis Committed Badge for sustainable business practices
The Malta-based energy and commodity trading house earns the sustainability rating's entry-level recognition, with EcoVadis assessing environment, labour and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement.

Alkagesta has been awarded the EcoVadis Committed Badge, recognising the Malta-headquartered energy and commodity trading house's commitment to responsible and sustainable business practices across its global operations. The company, whose trading desk spans petroleum products, fertilizers, biofuels and steel in more than 48 countries, received the recognition in September 2026.
EcoVadis is one of the world's most widely used providers of business sustainability ratings, assessing companies across four themes: environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. Its methodology is evidence-based, reviewing policies, reporting and third-party documentation against internationally recognised sustainability standards. Achieving the Committed Badge reflects a company's performance across those criteria and provides a framework for continued improvement.
The recognition sits alongside Alkagesta's wider ESG framework, which already includes ISCC and CORSIA certification for its sustainable aviation fuel trading, participation in the EU Emissions Trading System through access to EU ETS allowances, and ongoing investment in environmental research through the Clean Caspian startup.
Orkhan Rustamov, CEO of Alkagesta, commented: "Receiving the EcoVadis Committed Badge reflects the work being done across Alkagesta to embed responsible business practices into how we operate — not as a separate agenda, but as part of how we run the business day to day. As a company trading commodities that sit at the heart of the global economy, we take seriously our responsibility to operate with integrity and transparency. We see this as a foundation to build on, and we will continue to raise our standards across the areas EcoVadis measures."
Alkagesta has framed the badge as a baseline rather than an endpoint. The company's values and its published code of conduct set out the standards EcoVadis measured, and management says it will continue to raise performance across the areas the assessment covers as its global operations expand.
