Crude Benchmarks Climb Following Rejection of Iranian Peace Proposal
Crude futures climbed as geopolitical tensions mounted after the rejection of an Iranian peace offer, despite domestic refining uncertainties in the United States.

Global crude benchmarks opened the week with strong gains following the rejection by President Trump of a peace deal proposal tabled by Iran during the United Nations General Assembly. The diplomatic impasse rekindled security concerns across the energy sector.
Brent crude reached $107.24 per barrel during trading hours, while West Texas Intermediate changed hands at $94.10 per barrel. The WTI benchmark faced downward pressure from indications that the United States federal government could implement a temporary restriction on diesel fuel.
A potential diesel intervention would likely oblige domestic refiners to reduce operating run rates, expanding the local availability of unrefined crude. The overall price rise occurred even as separate reports pointed to improving volumes of oil departing the Persian Gulf.
