India Crude Imports Drop in August as Russian Volumes Decline
Indian crude imports and the market share held by Russian supplies dropped in August amid resilient domestic demand and delayed refinery turnarounds.

Inbound shipments of crude oil into India recorded a decline during August, accompanied by a drop in the proportion supplied by Russia. The downturn reflects supply challenges that cannot be explained solely by regular seasonal intake patterns at domestic processing facilities.
Indian refineries typically schedule maintenance operations toward the conclusion of the monsoon season, when local consumption of gasoline and diesel tends to soften. However, the majority of refiners delayed turnaround programs this year in response to strong refined product margins linked to wider market conditions.
Despite resilient end-user consumption maintaining high operational incentives for domestic processors, import volumes softened. Industry observations indicate that the primary drivers of this volume reduction stem from changes developing on the supply side.
