NYK Group has officially named its new liquefied natural gas carrier, the Diamond Gas Nexus, during a ceremony at the HD Hyundai Samho shipyard in South Korea. The newly constructed vessel features a total cargo capacity of 174,000 cubic metres.

The carrier is powered by a WinGD X-DF 2.2 iCER engine designed to operate on conventional fuel oil as well as natural boil-off gas. It will operate under a long-term time-charter commitment with DGE, a Singapore-based subsidiary wholly owned by Mitsubishi Corporation.

Operations will be handled under the NYK Group ship-management structure. The vessel is scheduled to be deployed primarily to support transport requirements for the Cameron LNG project.
