NYK Plans Transition Bond Issue to Fund LNG Fleet Investments
Japanese shipping group NYK is preparing a new transition bond issuance this month to support decarbonisation initiatives, including LNG-powered vessels.

Japanese maritime company NYK has announced plans to launch a new issue of transition bonds this month to finance projects linked to its corporate management strategy. The capital raised will target long-term decarbonisation efforts, specifically allocating funds toward investments in vessels fuelled by liquefied natural gas.
The upcoming offering marks the carrier's seventh issuance of sustainable debt instruments. The firm previously entered the green bond market in 2018 and completed its initial transition bond transaction in 2021.
In a separate announcement, the Japanese shipowner reported that it has received the Green Shipping Excellence Award at the ShipTek International Conference and Awards event.
