The Port of Callao in Peru has completed the installation of a shore power connection system designed for merchant vessels calling at the maritime hub.

With this project, Callao becomes the first port facility across South America and the wider Latin American region to establish operational cold ironing infrastructure for commercial shipping.

The electrical connection capabilities were established following recent infrastructure investments aimed at facilitating shoreside energy for visiting merchant ships.
