Davie Shipbuilding has finalized a fixed-price agreement valued at US $8 billion to construct six new icebreakers. The order was commissioned for the Canadian Coast Guard as part of a significant fleet development initiative.

The multi-billion-dollar contract represents one of the largest components of Canada's maritime procurement programme. Under the terms of the fixed-price agreement, the shipyard will construct the specialized vessels to support operations in Arctic waters.

The award further expands Davie Shipbuilding's growing portfolio in Arctic shipbuilding as the organization prepares to deliver on the major government vessel commitment.
