Classification society DNV alongside the Liberian International Ship and Corporate Registry have issued an Approval in Principle certificate to South Korean shipbuilder HD Hyundai Heavy Industries. The certification covers a newly developed 12,000 cubic metre liquefied natural gas bunkering vessel design tailored to the operational requirements of the cruise sector.

Announced following an official release on 16 September, the design incorporates specialised elements intended to handle the specific operational challenges associated with refuelling cruise ships. The concept aims to streamline safety and manoeuvrability during passenger ship bunkering procedures.

Among the key navigational systems featured in the design is the Hyundai Intelligent Navigation Assistant System Surround View Monitoring setup. This system compiles data from multiple inputs to deliver an augmented reality, 360-degree top-view display to support crew during close-quarters operations.
