Shipowners in Sweden, Norway and Canada order four dual-fuel LNG tankers
Four shipowners across Sweden, Norway, and Canada have contracted four new dual-fuel LNG tankers, expanding the Vinga vessel series to 26 units.
Four shipping companies based in Sweden, Norway, and Canada have placed orders for four additional dual-fuel liquefied natural gas tankers. The latest commitments bring the total count for the specialized Vinga design series to 26 vessels.
Swedish shipping company Furetank confirmed the fleet expansion on 28 August during the naming ceremony for Fure Vasa. That newly delivered Vinga-class vessel recently reached Europe after being built at China Merchants Jinling Shipyard.
Two of the four ordered ships will enter the fleet of FureBear, a joint venture formed between Canada-based Algoma Central Corporation and Furetank. The Vinga ship series was originally co-developed by Furetank and naval architecture firm FKAB Marine Design.
