Alkagesta signs multi-year biofuel storage agreement in Antwerp
The Malta-based trading house has secured multi-year tank capacity in Antwerp, deepening its footprint in the northwest European biofuels market.

Alkagesta has signed a multi-year biofuel storage agreement in Antwerp, Belgium, according to trade press reports published in late March. The deal gives the Malta-based trading house dedicated tank capacity in one of northwest Europe's most heavily used blending and distribution hubs.
Antwerp sits at the centre of European biofuel logistics. Its tank terminals connect barge traffic on the Rhine and Scheldt with coastal and deep-sea movements, which makes leased capacity there a practical way for a trader to hold blend components close to demand rather than moving them repeatedly across the continent.
For a physical trader, multi-year storage is primarily an optionality play. Contracted tankage supports consistent supply to counterparties, allows blending to be scheduled against demand rather than against vessel arrivals, and reduces the operational risk of relying on spot capacity in a tight market.
Global Freight has not independently verified the commercial terms of the agreement, and none of the reports reviewed disclose volumes, duration or the terminal operator involved. Readers should treat the announcement as reported by the publications listed below.
