India holds the potential to establish itself as a competitive regional hub for alternative marine fuels, according to findings from the Study on Potential Demand and Pricing of Alternative Marine Fuels in India.

The assessment identifies a phased development roadmap to support the country in meeting regional demand and establishing bunker infrastructure for cleaner maritime fuels.

The project was initiated by India’s Directorate General of Maritime Administration alongside the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, with assistance provided under the International Maritime Organization’s GreenVoyage2050 Programme.
