Bunker supplier Suzun Marine Fuels is revising its approach to marine fuel trading by writing seafarer welfare standards directly into its commercial contracts with shipowners.

Under these contractual terms, the fuel trading firm retains the explicit right to turn down business from vessels linked to labour abuses.

The policy allows the supplier to refuse service to ships associated with unpaid crew wages, forced labour, or substandard living and working conditions onboard.
